Who We Are

The Northwestern Illinois Building & Construction Trades Council strives to improve the quality of life and job opportunities for members throughout an eight-county area of Northwestern Illinois. Our goal is to protect and achieve living wages, benefit standards, and a safe work environment for area construction trades.

NWIBT belongs to North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) based in Washington, D.C. NABTU is a labor federation of 14 Building Trades unions founded by the American Federation of Labor in 1907. The organization currently represents over 380 state, local, and provincial councils in the United States and Canada, and is dedicated to the stability of employment and economic security of organized construction workers in North America.
